SPECapc releases Pro/E Wildfire 2.0 benchmark;
first in SPECapc suite to test 64-bit performance
WARRENTON, Va., February 15, 2005 – SPEC/GPC’s Application Performance Characterization (SPECapc) project group today released new software for evaluating performance of systems running Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0. The new benchmark is the first in the SPECapc suite to measure performance for both 32- and 64-bit systems.
SPECapc for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0 uses a complex model of a race car assembly to exercise all areas of system performance relevant to the popular CAD/CAM/CAE application. It runs eight tests to measure performance for graphics, CPU and I/O.
In addition to running on 32-bit systems, SPECapc for Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0 enables performance testing on 64-bit operating systems that can address larger amounts of physical memory.
“The new benchmark is a significant development for Pro/E Wildfire users who want to measure real-world performance for the latest generation of computing and graphics systems,” says Dan Bennett, SPECapc chair. “Combining a realistic testing environment and workloads with SPEC’s proven benchmark methodology helps ensure that we are delivering the most representative and repeatable benchmark possible for Pro/E Wildfire.”
In addition to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 2.0, SPECapc provides benchmarks for SolidEdge V14, SolidWorks 2005, 3ds max 7 and Maya 6.5. The SPECapc group continues to seek models and benchmarks for leading software applications in CAD/CAM, digital content creation, and simulation/visualization.
