SPECpower –> Hansfried Block
Hansfried was an inaugural member of the SPECpower committee in 2006, helping to create the first industry standard efficiency benchmark, and served as release manager of the SPECpower committee for more than 10 years releasing several versions of the SPECpower_ssj® 2008 benchmark, the Chauffeur® Worklet Development Kit, and the SERT® Suite. He contributed code to the SPEC PTDaemon® interface and has been coauthor of several server energy efficiency research papers.
Prior SPEC Roles
Hansfried has been involved with SPEC since 2005 as a member of OSGcpu and OSGweb committees. He was also the OSGweb subcommittee release manager for the SPECweb® 2009 benchmark and host of the SPEC benchmark workshop 2010 Paderborn and SPEC international technical meeting 2015 Berlin. He served on the SPEC board from 2017 to 2021. Hansfried also represents SPEC at the European Commission and local conferences in Germany.
Industry Role
Hansfried started his professional career working for IBM Germany in Unix OS development after graduating from Technical University Dortmund, Germany. In 1988 he changed to Nixdorf Computer AG in Paderborn, which later was taken over by Siemens and then merged with Fujitsu. Initially he was working on test software for computer servers and software quality assurance later managing a team responsible for server performance. In 2015 he was recognized as a Fujitsu Distinguished Engineer. He served as the primary SPEC representative for Fujitsu until 2016.
