Industry Role
Johann Pais is a Senior Member of Technical Staff at Advanced Micro Devices in Austin (Texas), where he leads EPYC Energy Efficiency Optimization under Datacenter & Embedded Solutions Engineering. Johann has held various roles since joining AMD as a pre-silicon Design Verification Engineer in 2001. From post-silicon performance benchmarking & workload characterization where he co-authored AMD’s inaugural Client Performance Evaluation Guide, to Power-Performance End-to-End Product Ownership, he jointly published 9 Performance & Power Optimization Guides across Client & Server products. For 2 years prior, Johann designed then validated discrete & integrated GPUs at Matrox as an ASIC Design Engineer. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston (Texas) & a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering from the University of Bombay, India.
