Rules and Fees of the Game

Publishing Performance Results in the GPC News

The following rules and fee schedules have been set for member and non-member companies that wish to publish performance numbers on-line in the GPC News. Here are the rules and fees for each project group:

OPC Project Group -- Viewperf

Member Publishing
1. Members of the OPC project group receive six free configurations to report for each viewset in a calendar quarter.
2. The number of free submittals is not accruable or transferrable from quarter to quarter.
3. The number of submittals from one viewset cannot be applied to another viewset. If, for example, a member publishes numbers for three systems for the CDRS viewset and seven for the DX viewset, the member would pay for one system.
4. A change in pricing does not constitute a new configuration.
5. The charge is $50 per configuration for each viewset above six in a calendar quarter.
6. A configuration will be published on-line for one year, unless the submitter notifies the publisher that it should be removed. After one year, the configuration will be removed automatically, unless the submitter notifies the publisher that it should remain on-line. There are no additional fees for extending on-line publication beyond one year.
7. The OPC project group may remove configurations as a result of revisions in viewsets or Viewperf. In this case, the vendor will be given notice by the project group and may, at no charge, resubmit the identical configuration for the revised viewset or Viewperf.
8. A new configuration is defined as any that requires a change in the hardware or software section of the submittal form.

Non-Member Publishing
Non-members of the OPC project group may submit Viewperf performance results at a cost of $200 per configuration for each viewset. Any change in hardware or software constitutes a new configuration. Rules 6, 7 and 8 for members also apply to non-members submitting performance results for publication.

OPC Project Group -- GLperf

Member Publishing
1. Members of the OPC project group receive six free configurations to report in each calendar quarter.
2. The number of free submittals is not accruable or transferrable from quarter to quarter.
3. Results must be reported for every GLperf script, except in those cases where the vendor's windowing systems or OpenGl implementations don't support the operations being tested.
4. A change in pricing does not constitute a new configuration.
5. The charge is $50 per configuration above six in a calendar quarter.
6. A configuration will be published on-line for one year, unless the submitter notifies the publisher that it should be removed. After one year, the configuration will be removed automatically, unless the submitter notifies the publisher that is should remain on-line. There are no additional fees for extending on-line publication beyond one year.
7. The OPC project group may remove configurations as a result of revisions in scripts or GLperf. In this case, the vendor will be given a notice by the project group and may, at no charge, resubmit the identical configuration.
8. A new configuration is defined as any that requires a change in the hardware or software section of the submittal form.

Non-Member Publishing
Non-members of the OPC project group may submit GLperf performance results at a cost of $500 per configuration. Payment must be received before results are placed on-line. Any change in hardware or software constitutes a new configuration. Rules 6,7 and 8 for members also apply to non-members submitting performance results for publication.

PLB Project Group

Member Publishing
1. Members of the PLB project group receive six free configurations to report per calendar quarter at no charge. Each submission must include all tests in each averaged group (PLBwire93, PLBsurf93) or none of them.
2. The number of free submittals is not accruable or transferrable from quarter to quarter.
3. OPC rule number 3 does not apply to the PLB project group. Membership in this group provides six free configurations per calendar quarter. Members cannot publish, for example, six systems for PLBwire93 and six different systems for PLBsurf93 under the allowance for six free configurations.
4. A change in pricing does not constitute a new configuration.
5. The charge is $50 for each configuration above six in a calendar quarter.
6. A configuration will be published on-line for one year, unless the submitter notifies the publisher that it should be removed. After one year, the configuration will be removed automatically, unless the submitter notifies the publisher that it should remain on-line. There are no additional fees for extending on-line publication beyond one year.
7. Configurations may be removed by the PLB project group as a result of revisions in standard benchmark files or BIF Spec changes. In this case, the vendor will be given notice by the project group and may, at no charge, resubmit the identical configuration for the revised benchmark file or BIF Spec.
8. A new configuration is defined as any that requires a change in the hardware or software section of the submittal form.

Non-Member Publishing
Because of the extensive work that must be done to port the Picture-Level Benchmark to specific APIs, the PLB project group requires membership in order to report PLB results.

XPC Project Group

Member Publishing
The OPC project group's rules also apply to the XPC group. Currently, XPC project group members receive six free configurations to report per calendar quarter.

Non-Member Publishing
Non-members of the XPC project group may submit Xmark93 performance results at a cost of $200 for each configuration. Any change in hardware or software constitutes a new configuration. Rules 6, 7 and 8 of the OPC guidelines for members also apply to XPC non-members submitting performance results for publication.
